What is the tournament bracket randomizer?
The tournament bracket randomizer is a free online spinner loaded with 8 starter entries, such as Team Red, Team Blue, Team Green, Team Gold. You can change every slice, add your own items, set odds and keep a record of each result. People also search for it as “tournament matchup wheel”, “random bracket generator”.

Random draws for brackets
Seeding a tournament by hand invites accusations of favouritism. A random draw is the traditional fair alternative, used by football cups, chess tournaments and school sports days alike. Load the teams or players, turn on automatic removal, and spin to fill the bracket slot by slot: the first two names drawn play each other, the next two play each other, and so on. Everyone sees the draw happen, so nobody can complain about an easy path for someone else.
Seeded and unseeded draws
For casual events, a fully random draw is simplest. For competitive events, you may want to keep the strongest players apart in early rounds. Create two wheels: one for seeded entries and one for unseeded. Spin a seeded entry, then an unseeded opponent, until all matches are set. This mirrors how many professional tournaments draw their brackets, and it keeps the excitement of chance while protecting the later rounds.
Group stages
For tournaments with groups, such as four groups of four, spin teams into groups in turn: group A, B, C, D, then repeat. Use pots if you want balance: put the strongest teams in pot one, the next strongest in pot two, and draw one from each pot into every group. Turn on removal for each pot so no team is drawn twice.
Byes and odd numbers
If the number of entrants isn't a power of two (8, 16, 32), some players get a bye into the next round. Decide byes fairly by spinning: the first names drawn get byes, or seeded players receive them by rule. State the rule before the draw.
Gaming tournaments
For video game tournaments, spin matchups as above, then use extra wheels for maps, characters, modes or handicaps. A map wheel stops anyone choosing their best map every time. A character ban wheel adds variety in fighting games. For streams, show the draw live with the overlay mode so viewers see the bracket form.
School sports days and clubs
Spin houses or classes against each other for knockout events. Spin lane assignments for races. Spin the order of events. For table tennis, chess or badminton clubs, spin weekly ladder matches so members play different opponents.
Office and social tournaments
Ping-pong ladders, darts nights, quiz knockouts, bake-offs, fantasy sports drafts: a wheel sets matches and draft orders fairly. Spin the draft order for fantasy leagues, and use removal so each pick slot goes to one manager.
Recording the bracket
The history panel lists each draw in order, which gives you the bracket directly. Export it as CSV and paste into a spreadsheet or bracket template. For important events, download a receipt to show the draw wasn't changed.
Example
A youth football festival with twelve teams spins three groups of four from two pots, then draws the knockout round from the group winners, all on a big screen in the clubhouse. Coaches and parents watch every draw, and no one questions the fixtures.
Tiebreakers
If two teams finish level on points, spin to decide who advances only as a last resort, after goal difference or head-to-head results. Agree the order of tiebreakers before the tournament and publish it with the fixtures.
